INDIANA FAMILY MAKES MR. SPEED CONCERTS A FAMILY AFFAIR

When Karen Andrews of Lafayette, Indiana heard that her family’s favorite rock and roll band, Mr. Speed, would be performing a KISS tribute show in Cadillac on September 26 she was one of the first to order tickets. “We are so excited that Mr. Speed is doing a concert at the famous Cadillac High and we are looking forward to our weekend in Cadillac,” she told promoters in an e-mail.

For the Andrews family, attending Mr. Speed shows has become a family affair, something they do together several times a year. “We met Mr. Speed in August of 2002 at an outdoor festival in Logansport, Indiana,” says Karen, “My husband, Rob, and I had never seen a Kiss tribute band before, and thought it would be cool to see what a tribute concert would be like.  So we put our two little boys, Scott (then just 6) and Kevin (only 2), in some Kiss face paint and headed to Logansport.  Mr. Speed took the stage and put on an unbelievable show!  We felt like Kiss was right there in front of us!  After the show, Mr. Speed had a “meet and greet” with the fans, and we thought that was very nice of them to take time to meet all of us.  They also took time to have group photos taken with the fans.”

Over the years the Andrews family attended more shows and became close friends with the members of the band. “Our boys, Scott (now age 13) and Kevin (now age 9) think the world of them and are always excited when we say we’re going to go see Mr. Speed,” adds Karen.

“Mr. Speed shows are the top of the line,” she observes. “They strive to perfect every element of Kiss’ shows: the sound, the look, and the mannerisms. They interact with the fans in the audience, toss guitar picks out into the crowd (paying close attention to make sure the kids get one), and everyone just has an incredible time. The mutual respect between Mr. Speed and the fans is obvious.  They take time (however long it may be) to meet each and every person, young and old alike, after a show, sign autographs, take pictures, answer questions and make all the fans feel special.  Their shows are very family-friendly and they always put on a great show for all ages.”
