Our 35th class reunion was held in Flint on August 19, 2000. The turnout was small, but those who attended had a good time. After dinner at Broadstreet North (the Country Squire in our day), the group danced at Broadstreet's outdoor nightclub until around midnight. Then we adjourned to the Sneak Easy down the street until it closed at 2:00 a.m. Maureen (Bol) deserves kudos for pulling this all together.
Some of the highlights:
|
Several classmates played golf on Friday and Saturday. On Friday we played a new course, Copper Ridge near Davison. We had 4 foursomes, two groups of ladies and two groups of gentlemen (terms which should be applied loosely). After Friday's round enjoyed some libations at Lucky's in Davison. On Saturday two foursomes of men played Grand Blanc Country Club. Many thanks to Norm Riopelle for organizing the golf outings.
|
In a shocker of a vote, and after several adult beverages had been consumed, some of the ladies of '65 voted Jon Newbill as "most improved" since high school. Norm Riopelle still disputes the title because he was out of the room when the vote was taken.
|
The person who came the greatest distance to attend the reunion was Alberta (Guza), which just goes to show how far a person will travel in order to get away from their 9-year-old.
|
Briefest appearance went to Cheryl (Babinger) who arrived late for golf, played a few holes, and then departed before any of the guys could put the moves on her. This was actually good because the "moves" are still as lame as they were in high school.
|
Heavy Metal provided the capper for the evening, probably a first for most of the people there. The band at the Sneak Easy, "Fly", cranked tunes at slightly below jet airplane decibels. Ann (Militello) seemed to be a favorite of the band, as she was asked to dance with the guitarist a couple of times. (Did he somehow know Ann had been at the Motley Crue/Megadeth concert earlier in the week?) For the next reunion, a quieter mix may be on the docket. |

If you took pictures at the reunion, please send me copies. Scan them and e-mail them, send me prints and I'll return them, or send me the pictures on disk/CD. -- Jim Neff --

| The Originals -- These people went to St. Mike's K-12: Julia Sanzone, Alberta Guza, Karen Laux, Kathy Rohen, Dan Aube, Mary Ann Rohen, Maureen Bol, Nancy Lawrence, Ann Militello, Ric Bondy (even though he's a Cook School reject, but Tommy Kerns was not available for the picture). | |
| Bob Sabo (rt.) converses with Dick Totten. | |
| Nancy Lawrence and Ric Bondy with Maureen Bol in the background. | |
| Notice how Bondy was the only male at this table -- still slick after all these years. Mary Ann Rohen, Alberta Guza, Nancy Lawrence, Maureen Bol, Karen Laux, Ann Militello, Ric Bondy. | |
| Neil (Nick) Monroe and his wife. | |
| Jon Newbill, "Most Improved." The question now is: Was John that bad in high school, or did he actually improve, or did the rest of the guys really deteriorate? | |
| Maureen Bol and Karen Laux, proving that once a "babe" always a "babe." | |
| Ric Bondy, proving what Aube said: "That damn Bondy still looks like he did in high school." | |
| Mike Keyes with Karen Laux, Kathy Rohen, and Judy Fox. Wish you were this lucky in high school, right Mike? | |
| Nancy Lawrence and Julia Sanzone comparing notes on how good the guys look. Really! | |
| John Pearson (center) with Tommy Kerns. The lovely lady is Diane Fox, Dicky's wife. | |
| Alberta, Julia, Karen, Maureen, Nancy (with camera), Ric, and Kathy. | |
| Jim Neff and Ann (Militello) Neff with John Pearson. | |
| Ric Bondy and Jim Neff were instructed to give their "stud" look for this picture, which explains a lot about their lack of dates in high school. | |
| Kathy and Tom Sherwood. | |
| Dicky Fox, as much fun as ever, with his wife Diane. | |
| Ron Bader. | |
| Tom Kerns, still smooth with the babes, chats with Kathy Rohen and Julia Sanzone. | |
| Ann Militello and Nancy Lawrence. | |
| Carl Armor, Rick "Deitz" Thodoroff, and Louie Passeriello. Rick and Louie have been pals since grade school at St. Luke's. | |
| Mike Keyes, Jim Neff, Ann Militello, Ric Bondy. | |
| Two "ringers" from St. Agnes (our reunions are more fun), Judy Fox and Alberta Guza. | |
| Mary Ann Rohen. | |
| Norm Riopelle, sporting the best "Magnum P.I." shirt at the reunion. | |
| Jon Newbill and Mike Keyes, both refugees from the old Civic Park neighborhood. | |
| While his wife (Maureen Donelly) isn't looking, Gary Bates puts a move on Judy Fox. It's nice to see Bates has developed a "move," since he had none in high school. | |
| JoAnn Mikolaizik and Paul Phillips. | |
| The Rohen sisters, Kathy and Mary Ann. | |
| Mary Ann Vuckovich. | |
| Kathy and Louie Passeriello, Ann Militello, and Carl Armor. | |
| While in Flint for the reunion, Karen Laux took the opportunity to pick up a new man. | |
| Karen Laux, Kathy Passeriello, Ann Militello, Maureen Bol, Alberta Guza. | |
| Tom Sherwood with Ann and Jim Neff. | |
| Quite a pro tour threesome on the golf course: Maureen Bol, Ann Militello, and Alberta Guza. | |
| Cheryl Babinger shares a golf cart with Myrna Lamb. In case you don't know, Myrna is Jon Newbill's significant other and we've adopted her as an honorary classmate (because she enjoys the reunions almost more than we do). | |
| Zip up, Alberta! Get organized, girl! This ain't Texas; we have indecent exposure laws in Michigan. | |
| The golfing ladies: Ann Militello, Karen Laux, Alberta Guza, Maureen Bol, Kathy Rohen, Judy Fox, Myrna Lamb. | |
| Paul Phillips and Jon Newbill. | |
| Gary Bates, Judy Fox (proving she still has her own teeth), and Julia Sanzone. | |
| Cheryl Babinger, golf pro and all-around "babe." | |
| Norm Riopelle, Jon Newbill, Jim Neff, Dan Aube, and Tommy Kerns -- the best golf fivesome in captivity. | |
| Myrna Lamb, Nancy Lawrence, and Maureen Donelly. | |
| Alberta Guza and Mary Ann Rohen. | |
| Carl Armor and Chuck Kupres. | |
| Dan Aube "gettin' down" on the dance floor with Maureen Bol. Dan still has it (although Judy is not sure what "it" is.) | |
| Kathy Rohen, Julia Sanzone, and Dan Aube. |
KEEP THOSE PICTURES COMING !!
